A holistic programme that develops young talents age 21 and below who demonstrate a passion for Chinese music, the Mapletree-TENG Scholarship was established in 2018, and is an ongoing partnership between Mapletree Investments and The TENG Company.
The scholarship covers a rigorous training scheme of constant assessments and individual lessons with professional instructors from TENG. In addition, scholars will also be involved in community outreach programmes where they will perform at homes, dialysis centres, hospitals and hospices.
Scholars have gone on to win awards at the Singapore Chinese Music Competition and also performed at various event such as the National Day Parade, Istana Open House, President’s Challenge Launch, and Mapletree Mid-Autumn Festival Celebrations.
By covering the full tuition fees of instrumental lessons, grading examinations and course materials for a period of 2 years, it aims to nurture a generation of Chinese musicians in Singapore who will contribute back to society with the skills that they have attained from this programme.
